HOWEVER many friends and family have asked how they can help us for our callback audition this TUESDAY. WANT US TO BE ON NBC's THE BIGGEST LOSER? HERE IS HOW:

Please write at least (feel free to write more) a paragraph letter of recommendation for us. Feel free to use the guidelines and topics below to help:

1. Why do Leilani and Maureen make an ideal team? Why would they succeed together on the Biggest Loser?
2. How has Maureen and Leilani's weight loss journey inspired or affected you personally about your own health?
3. How do you know Maureen and Leilani?
4. Why should Maureen and Leilani BE ON THE SHOW?!

Please either reply to this Facebook note with your paragraph/letter or email it BOTH email addresses:

Maureen: maureen.apa.yli@gmail.com
Leilani: denieva.leilani@gmail.com

DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 30th by 2pm.

GOAL: We want at least 100 letters of support from all of our friends and family. We want to print them to bring into our audition this coming Tuesday at 5pm. We want to prove with PRINTED LETTERS/EMAILS that people care about our lives, but also believe we can benefit from being on this show.

Please pass this note/email/tweet/blog along to them to help! : )

WITH ALL THE LOVE IN OUR HEARTS,

Operation Boot Camp: The Veteran Challenge

As a veteran boot camper I needed to post this email from my trainer as a reminder NOT to be slacking off during camp. I need to push and challenge myself. UGH. It all starts again at 5:30am tomorrow...

Operation Boot Camp: The Veteran Challenge

Greetings, Veterans!

We have new veterans amongst our ranks... and as veterans, we need to be challenged EVEN MORE.

I bet you thought you were not going to get any e-mails, oh were you wrong!

We, the Hellyer Park Instructors, challenge you, the veteran campers, to:

Run faster

Jump Higher

Squat Lower

Sing Louder

Push Your Limits

Show us What you are Made of

Share Your Knowledge

Learn Something New

Ask us for What YOU need.

We are excited to have you back for another camp. We love to watch your progress!

See you on your best behavior!

She...

She...

Celebrate her brilliance.
Celebrate her faith.
Celebrate her strength.
Celebrate her passion.
Celebrate her goals.
Celebrate her magic.
Celebrate her warmth.
Celebrate her daring.
Celebrate her spirit.
Celebrate her.

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the above mantra. My friend Katrina gave me a journal about a month ago to pen my thoughts and ideas and on the inside the above was written. I liked it so much that I decided to post it as a reminder to myself.

SELF: Be true to your MO-SELF and celebrate!

Go ahead ladies and gents--go on and celebrate---celebrate with pride. ^_^

I feel like I am back in the game

I feel like I am back in the game, and I will tell you why...

Each month I participate in a monthly 6am cardio boot camp at Hellyer Park in San Jose. At the beginning of each monthly session we are required to take a physical fitness test (PT) and then again at the end of the month to see what difference was achieved. Today was our PT test for the month of May (our May session ran into June).

One of the things I love AND dread the most is the timed 1 mile run. It is one thing to run indoors on a treadmill and then again to run outdoors around a lake at 6am in the morning on an empty stomach. Did I also mention that I never really stretch properly? Well, that's important to mention too. Ugh.

How did I do?

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

The History of Maureen's Running Times:

1) Best mile time ever achieved in high school: 8 min 30 sec
2) Mile time acheived during 5K Marin Human Race: 16 min 35 sec
3) Best mile time ever achieved on a treadmill: 14 min 45 sec
4) Mile time achieved at the beginning of May's boot camp: 15 min 45 sec

5) MILE TIME ACHIEVED TODAY: 14 min 15 sec!!!

All I can say is that I am super psyched. Progress is happening slowly but surely! YES!!!

How do you remind yourself how fabulous you are?

QUESTION:
How do you remind yourself how fabulous you are?

ANSWER:
Fashionista Photos

One faithful day last week my friend Katrina was following me around with a camera like she was paparazzi. In reality she was doing 2 things: 1) testing out her brand new digital camera 2) proving a point to me that it helps to motivate my weight loss journey by taking chic photos of myself. I didn't believe her until she showed the above photos to me...

I realized that when a person goes through a life journey or a self-realization process they have to remind themselves how fabulous they are or sometimes hold themselves accountable. I like to do it through writing this blog, but for those who are too lazy to write (trust me I get lazy too that's why sometimes I write an entry once a week and usually on Wednesdays) I suggest photoblogging or microblogging.

Photoblogging Example: http://www.photoblog.com/
How it works: Photoblog helps you preserve your memories and share your life through photographs. You have a limit of uploading up to 5 photos per day and writing a paragraph describing it.

Microblogging Example: http://twitter.com/
How it works: The concept of Twitter relies on messaging services, whether it uses a cell phone, instant messager, such as Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger, or through specific websites. It allows the user to send messages to friends and family quickly and easily. Twitter only asks one question, “What are you doing?” As long as an answer is 140 characters or less, it is possible for thousands of people to see the answer immediately.

On the look out for some motivation and support through media

Short update: Since I am taking a break from school I have moved back to reading for pleasure, instead of dry textbooks, however I have decided to read books that are motivational and inspirational.

For example the #1 New York Times Bestseller "Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. It is described as a "no-nonsense, tough love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous."

Skinny Bitch Website: http://www.skinnybitch.net/

Another thing I have been doing is watching television shows or movies that also are revolved around weight loss and health. Examples would include cable shows on TLC or watching documentaries such as "Super Size Me."

Here is the link on HULU: http://www.hulu.com/watch/63283/super-size-me

It's time to get motivated! ^_^
